Home to some of the top cheesesteaks in the world, you’ll definitely want to explore Philadelphia…Plus with all walking, you can work off all that food that Philadelphia is famous for!
Dubbed the City of Brotherly Love, this city is a 2 hour drive from either New York City or Washington DC and can be a nice day trip should you be visiting either destination. Philadelphia actually means brotherly love in Greek and we can thank William Penn for the name.
Located at One Liberty Place on the 57th floor, you’ll find Philly’s only true observation deck, also known as Philly from the Top. With 360 degree views, you can see for miles as you reach the top.
Before you head to the top though, make sure you leave enough time to experience the mural which has many informative pictures and mementos that are Philly born. There are no timed entry tickets so board the elevator as you wish.
The observation deck prides itself on the history of Philadelphia. One icon in particular. As you enter, you’ll be greeted by some large feet. Try to guess who you’ll see at the top from his kite string. We’ll give you a hint, he wears bifocals and flies a kite. Think back a ways in history and you might get the answer!
Included in every ticket is the opportunity to partake in free guided tours. Tours are provided every hour, on the hour from 11 AM to 5 PM. There is no tour at 2 PM. Tours in available in English, Spanish, French, German, and Mandarin.
With something for everyone to enjoy, the interactive touch screens throughout the deck provide guests the opportunity to zoom in to certain landmarks and learn a little bit about what makes them so special. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled and look for City Hall, the Ben Franklin Bridge, the Ben Franklin Parkway, the stadium complex, and University City.
There is no café or shop at the top, but One Liberty Place has plenty on the ground floor to satisfy the needs of hunger and shopping.
Worried that the weather might ruin your visit? The observation deck is completely enclosed so you can visit in January or August and no matter heat, wind, rain, or snow, you’re trip to the top will still be available.
With three ticket options to chose from, don’t miss out on your chance to get a Sun and Stars pass. This pass gives visitors the chance to visit twice in 48 hours. The idea is to go once during the day and once in the evening. The Sun and Stars pass is available for $13.99 for adults and $9.99 for children.
