There are tons and tons of galleries located at the museum, but we tried to narrow down the best exhibits you can see with a visit to the Museum of Science and Industry. One not to miss exhibit, the Wired to Wear gallery.
When you stop in the Wired to Wear exhibit, you’ll be able to fully immerse yourself in the world of wearable technology. In this exhibit, you’ll be among the first to experience the merging of technology and the human body.
Think Apple Watches, the exhibit will teach visitors about how these items make us healthier, stronger and safer. Among some of the things you will see include a jacket that helps you see in the dark, wearables that express your emotions, and a jet suit that can transport you 32 miles per hour.
Another popular gallery is the Go Underground: Coal Mine exhibit. Put on your hard hat and ride the rails. This exhibit was the very first one that opened at the Museum of Science and Industry and still captures people today.
The interactive tour of this coal mine will teach guests the art of mining, methods used by coal miners, and lessons on the machinery that was used. You’ll even get to ride a coal mine train.
Is history your thing? You won’t want to miss a visit to the U-505 Submarine. This submarine on display is the only German submarine in the United States. There are nearly 200 artifacts in this location, along with videos and photos that are just waiting to be seen.
As for interactive experiences, see if you can handle sleeping in a rack or using the galley kitchen. Trust us, it’s not as easy at is seems. To make it feel even more real, the team at the museum has sound and lighting effects added to make the exhibit come to life.
Everyone loves weather and with a visit to the museum, you’ll be put into the forefront of it. You’ll learn the science behind some of the craziest weather-related events that have happened over the years.
You can also try your luck at making lightning or learn how to make a virtual firework display. Maybe you want to experience a tornado wind gust? You can do that too. This area offers guests the chance to step into a wind tunnel with gusts of up to 80 miles per hour.
