A new exhibit, Diana: Her Fashion, recently opened up at the castle. Here is where you’ll be able to get up close to the fashion of the late princess. Known as the People’s Princess, her down to earth nature was captivating to the entire world. She was always wearing elaborate outfits and with a visit to this exhibit, you can see them for yourself.
The exhibit is included with admission into the castle so no need to pay anything extra. While you are in this exhibit, you’ll see the real sketches that designers presented to Diana, complete with notes from the princess herself. David Sassoon, one of Diana’s favorite designers to work with, is shown throughout the exhibit.
Some of the sketches include the outfit she wore on the train for her honeymoon in 1981, a tuxedo style evening dress that the princess wore in 1989. There is also a sketch of the white maternity dress that she wore when she was pregnant with William and Harry.
A lover of fashion, many of Diana’s clothes are on display here too. One that stands out is the evening dress by Catherine Walker. Diana wore the dress while in Bangkok for a dinner in 1988 in Thailand. The piece is currently on loan from the Fundacion Museo de la Moda in Chile.
The castle grounds are open in the summer months from March 1 to October 31. The museum is open in the summer Monday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. During the winter months of November 1 to February 28, the museum is open Monday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
