While San Francisco is filled with a ton of history, museums, and culture, a vacation wouldn’t be fun without a little theme park action, right? We’ve got just the ticket. Spend a day or two at California’s Great America Theme Park just outside San Francisco, California.
Located in nearby San Jose, California’s Great America is the perfect park to do in one or two days. The park is smaller than the likes of Disneyland, but you’ll still find yourself immersed in thrill rides, coasters, and of course, the ever-delicious theme park food delights. The park opens daily at 10:00 AM.
A trip to California’s Great America would not be completed without a ride on California’s best wooden rollercoaster, the Gold Striker. The coaster stands an impressive 108.2 feet high and travels up to speeds of 53.7 miles per hour. The wind will be whipping through your hair with every toss and turn.
Think this is a park for babies? They have an area of course, but we assure you it’s not all for kids. This park is home to six level five thrill rollercoasters. These high speed, high thrill, big drop crazy coasters can be found throughout the park. Make sure to see if you can handle the ride on Flight Deck, FireFall, Delirium, Drop Tower, and Vortex.
We all have our favorite cartoon characters and a visit to the Planet Snoopy section of the park. Nobody can say no to Snoopy and his gang of Peanut friends.
Throughout this section of the park you’ll meet and greet Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, and Sally. Have your cameras ready, these characters love to take photos. There are also rides geared to the little ones in the family located here as well.
Did we mention that this park is technically two parks in one? That’s right! For those hot California summer days, this park is also home to Boomerang Bay.
While at Boomerang Bay, you can enjoy all things spills and thrills with water slides, lazy rivers, and a wave pool. Make a little staycation for the day and book one of the cabanas so you can leave all your items and take a few dips while the kids go all out.
What’s a visit to a theme park if there aren’t games and shows? This place has those options too. Throughout the day, there are shows and talent acts around each area of the park.
Maybe you’ll find yourself jamming to some 80s tunes or be following a musical parade down the street. The classic arcade games are here too. From ring toss to water races, you can make sure you go home with one of the coveted teddy bears or oversized basketballs.
